Alice is an award-winning art Historian and Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art. She has over twenty-five years’ experience as a national gallery senior curator and previously as an international auction house specialist. She curates exhibitions, writes books and lectures about British and European art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with a particular interest in Scottish Art and Women Artists. She is a BBC Expert Woman and a Saltire Society Outstanding Woman of Scotland.

A note on the Stuart Anderson Caird Bequest: the Greenock ship builder Stuart Anderson Caird bequeathed his own art collection plus the sum of £6,000 to the McLean Museum and Art Gallery, with which to purchase further works of art.
