Visiting

 

Opening Hours: The Museum is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

 

The Museum is normally closed during local holidays and at the Christmas/New Year holiday period. If you are planning a visit at these times, please check our web site or telephone to confirm our opening times.

Getting There

The McLean is part of the Watt Institution complex and is situated near the centre of Greenock. It can be easily reached from the bus station (5 minutes) or from Greenock West railway station (10 minutes). The Museum does not have its own parking area, but there is a reserved space for disabled parking immediately outside the entrance. On street parking around the complex is free.

On Arrival

Please enter the Museum by the Kelly Street entrance and report to the reception area upon arrival for track and trace. 

If you are uncertain of the exhibit locations or the Museum layout, the staff at the Visitor Services Reception (near the ground floor entrance) will be able to assist you. Public toilets are situated near to the entrance of the Museum and an adapted toilet with baby changing facilities is located in the art gallery extension.

The Museum Shop is open throughout the day until 4.00 p.m. 

Disabled Visitors

The Museum entrance has an entry ramp and automatic doors at the entrance. We can provide wheelchair access to the Ground floor of the Museum and the Watt Hall and a lift provides access to the Art Gallery.

The Watt Hall is fitted with an induction loop. There is a reserved parking space at the Museum entrance.

School and Group Visits

School parties or other groups must book a visit before they arrive at the Museum.
