Gillian qualified as a Physical Education Teacher at Moray House institute of Education. Following her degree, Gillian worked in education and leisure management. She then worked as an Active Schools Co-ordinator with City of Edinburgh Council for 3 years before joining the Sports Development Team in Dundee as Physical Activity Team Leader. Gillian started with the Inverclyde Council team in March 2009. Gillian’s main interests include playing hockey, touch rugby and mountain biking.

Gillian says: "My aim as Active Schools / Sport Development Manager is to increase the number of opportunities for all children to get engaged in physical activity and sport. To support with building bridges with sports clubs and other community organisations to give children a pathway to continue their participation in sport outside of the school gate. Provide direction and support for the team, build partnerships with local agencies, and contribute to the strategic direction of Sport and Physical Activity within Inverclyde, which will hopefully make an impact on the lives of the residents of Inverclyde."
