Nomination, Voting and Eligibility.
Nomination forms are available for download by those wishing to be nominated as a member of a Community Council on the page of this website relating to the particular election.
The nominations forms must be completed and signed by the nominee, and also by both a porposer and a secoder.
If you wish to seek nomination, act as a proposer or act as a seconder and you are not on registered on the electoral register, you can register by contacting the local Electoral Registration Officer on the details shown on the Contacts section of this page.
Once the period for nominations has closed:
- if the number of validly nominated candidates is more than maximum number of members for a Community Council, then the election is contested and a ballot will be arranged by Inverclyde Council, in consultation with the Community Council, to allow local residents to elect members, and information will be made available on the page of this website relating to the particular election;
- if the number of validly nominated candidates more than the maximum number of members for a Community Council but is not less then half that maximum number, then the election is uncontested and the validly nominated candidates are declared members of the Community Council; and
- if the number of validly nominated candidates is not less then half that maximum number of members for a Community Council, then that Community Council is not established/retained at the election.
The maximum numbers of members for a Community Council is shown in the Notice of Election which can be found on the Notices page of this website relating to the particular community council election.
