Hillend centre is the base for a small respite facility with provision for 4 adult service users. The service creates a safe and welcoming environment where respite can be provided from a weekend or up to two weeks.  Longer periods can be considered if assessment of need identifies special circumstances.

The facility is furnished and designed to reflect a warm homely atmosphere and each of the four bedrooms have a wet room facility; wall mounted flat screen TVs with built in freeview and DVD player. Service users are encouraged to feel free to bring in small personal items that may help to personalise their bedroom during their short respite break.  Some people like to bring in framed photographs or photograph albums.

The service provides personalised care and assistance with maintaining and developing new skills.
A wide range of activities, outings and links with other community services are provided, some of these include.

  • Games & Social Activities
  • Nintendo Wi with Fitness and Wellbeing
  • Visits to local Cinema
  • Work placements at Local college
  • Theatre trips to local Beacon Arts Centre
  • Shopping

We are always open to any new ideas or suggestions and will try to accommodate your individual requests in relation to your care plan during your stay.

In relation to meals, the service operates a menu reflecting each individual’s choice of meal or snack, there are always alternatives on offer in relation to individual dietary requirements. Users are encouraged to remain as independent as possible and can access the kitchen area to obtain drinks and snacks when required.

The service is registered by the Care inspectorate to provide a respite service for adults.

Who can use the Service?

To access this service you will require an assessment of need, you should contact Inverclyde Assist First. If you already a care at home service you should discuss with your Home Support Manager or Care Manager

How much does the service cost?

Service Users who have been assessed and allocated a period of respite will be required to pay a weekly contribution in line with the councils charging policy and that national care home rate (which is subject to an annual review).
