Mental Wellbeing

International Suicide Prevention Day is on 10th September 2016.  For more information please refer to the 'International Suicide Prevention day' document on this page.

‘Making Wellbeing Matter in Inverclyde’ is the HSCP's mental health improvement plan and as part of this, a number of training workshops are offered:

  • safeTALK  - a half-day session that provides people with the skills to recognise when someone may have thoughts of suicide, and to connect that person to someone with suicide intervention skills
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – a two-day workshop that offers practical help to enable caregivers to recognise and intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide
  • Scottish Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) – the mental health equivalent of supporting physical first aid
  • ‘What’s the Harm?’ – A one-day workshop that aims to support people who use self-harm as a coping mechanism

In pre-5 nurseries, we deliver training for Early Years staff called Creative Confident Children Training, which is to promote the importance of emotional literacy.

Other mental Health Awareness Sessions can be delivered on a request basis.
