Present:  Councillors Hunter, McCormick (P), Nimmo, Snoddy and Stewart.

 

 

 

 

 

Chair:  Councillor Stewart presided.

 

 

 

 

 

In attendance:  Mr H McNeilly (for Head of Legal & Administration) and Head of Organisational Development & Human Resources.

 

 

 

 

 

Apologies:  Councillors McCabe and Moran.

 

 

 

 

 

The following paragraphs are submitted for information only having been dealt with under the powers delegated to the Sub-Committee.

 

 

 

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following items on the grounds that the business involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

 

 

 

 

Councillor Snoddy asked that his concern be recorded at the further postponement, at the request of the employer, of the eight dismissal appeals until 30 January 2007.  He requested that appropriate arrangements be put in place by the Service to ensure that the hearings take place on that date, to avoid any further delays.

The Sub-Committee considered a grievance appeal on behalf of an employee in Social Work Services and decided that the appeal be not upheld, all as detailed in the appendix.

Collective Grievance Appeal:  Employees in Social Work Services

The Sub-Committee considered a collective grievance appeal on behalf of a number of employees in Social Work Services.

 

 

 

 

 

The Sub-Committee adjourned at 10.55 am and reconvened at 11.18 am with the exception of Councillor Hunter.  Councillor Hunter returned to the meeting at 11.22 am.

 

 

 

 

 

The Sub-Committee decided that the appeal be not upheld, all as detailed in the appendix.  Councillor Hunter took no part in the consideration and decision on this item.

 

 

 

 

 

The Sub-Committee adjourned at 11.40 am and reconvened at 11.55 am.
