Inverclyde Women in Business

Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Inverclyde Women in Business is a network to support women who are running their own business, or considering setting up a business, in the area.

With meetings every 6 weeks,  either in-person at a local venue or online via Teams, it provides an opportunity to meet other local business owners, learn from each other and explore opportunities to work together.

All types of businesses, regardless of size or sector, operating from home or commercial premises, are welcome.

If you want to grow your network, please send an e-mail to businessdevelopment@inverclyde.gov.uk to join the distribution list.   As dates are scheduled over the year, details will be shown below.’

Our spotlight speaker will be Laura Davies from Ardgowan Distillery.

Laura Davies was appointed Ardgowan Distillery Manager in November 2024, leading all aspects of distillery operations and site management. With over a decade of experience in the spirits industry, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. Laura joins Ardgowan from The Welsh Whisky Company ('Penderyn'), where she most recently served as General Manager (Distilleries), overseeing operations at three production sites and three visitor centres. During her tenure, she played a key role in growing the business from £10 million to £23 million in turnover over seven years. Laura's background is in technical operations management, leadership and brand building.

Construction of Ardgowan Distillery was completed in early 2025, and the distillery is currently in the early stages of operation. Located in Inverkip, the distillery currently employs 14 members of staff, and is aiming to welcome visitors for distillery tours and tastings from summer '25.
