Walk on Wednesdays – Competition for pupils!

On Wednesday, 31 January 2024 we will start the “Walk on Wednesdays” competition for pupils of four primary schools:

  • Newark Primary School, Port Glasgow;
  • St Michael’s Primary School, Port Glasgow;
  • St Ninian’s Primary School, Gourock; and
  • Whinhill Primary School, Greenock.

Pupils at these schools have been issued with WalkFobs, a little electronic device, just like the key fob, to register points on WalkBoxes that will be installed on various routes to the schools. The links on this page, titled Newark and St Michael’s Map, St Ninian’s Map and Whinhill Map will allow you to view location maps.

The link on this page, titled Poster and QR Code, will allow you to view more information.

We want to encourage as many pupils as possible to take part in our competition, as walking to school improves your fitness, helps the environment… and makes your parents healthier if they walk you to school!

Prizes include cinema vouchers and water bottles.

The Competition runs from the 31 January 2024 to the 5 June 2024. The WalkBoxes are available on Wednesdays of school weeks between 8am and 10am on the approaches to schools at locations advertised by schools.

By swiping your WalkingFob you are agreeing to the rules of the Competition – you can find them on the link on this page, titled Walk to School Competition Rules.

You don’t need to register – just hold your fob on one of the WalkBoxes (just once every Wednesday) to collect points and have a chance to win prizes!
