Record Number of Twins Start Inverclyde Primary Schools
A new record 19 sets of twins are due to begin their education at Inverclyde Council’s primary schools.

The number could have been even higher if the parents of another two sets had not decided to defer sending their children to school for another year.
Education & Communities Convener Councillor Terry Loughran said: “Every year we seem to have double-figures – no pun intended - of twins starting schools in Inverclyde and 2015 is no exception.
I am delighted to be able to welcome them as they prepare to join their new classmates in their new schools and I am sure they will have a huge amount of fun.
We have some of the best teachers working in some of the best schools in the country and thanks to the support of parents and the wider school communities we maintain high standards of learning across the board.
I have always said – and I know it is a cliché – that our children are Inverclyde’s future as well as our biggest asset.”
The twins gathered at Ardgowan Primary School in Greenock which has just undergone a £6 million refurbishment in time for the new school session as part of Inverclyde Council’s £270 million Schools Estate Programme.
Provost Robert Moran was also on hand to wish them well for next week. He said: “The first day at school is a big deal for any child and I think it is wonderful these youngsters will be able to share the experience with their brother or sister. They’ll be joining another 54 sets of twins who are already in primary schools across Inverclyde so it is likely to be another challenge for teachers to tell them apart.”
