Extra support to stop smoking

People who smoke in Inverclyde are being urged to take the first step in giving up cigarettes by attending Inverclyde’s free stop smoking support sessions.

There are four different support sessions that take place Monday to Thursday across Inverclyde in Greenock, Port Glasgow and Gourock.

NEW drop-in session in the town centre takes place on Mondays from 11.30am to 1.00pm in Your Voice, Clyde Square

Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership Chair Councillor Joe McIlwee said: “Our smokefree sessions have proven to be so successful that we have been able to add an extra session in Inverclyde. This new support session will be a great chance for busy people in and around the town centre to access our smokefree services in a more convenient way whether they’re out doing their shopping or on their lunch break.”

There are ex-smokers who have praised Inverclyde smokefree services such as George Easdale from Port Glasgow, who smoked for more than 40 years before he decided to quit.  He says “I would advise anyone who is serious about quitting smoking to call the service, as you’ve got more chance of quitting than trying to doing it on your own.”

Sessions are all FREE to attend and those who are using the e-cigarette can also get support.

Monday - Your Voice, Clyde Square 11.30am to 1pm

Tuesday - Greenock Health Centre 6.30pm to 7.30pm
