Children have been enjoying extra fun in the sun thanks to a new £70,000 Inverclyde Council play area.

The project sits next to the new £1.8million Council-funded Inverkip Community Centre boasting a multi-purpose community hall, library and meeting room.

Education & Communities Convener Councillor Jim Clocherty said: “The building is a focal point for local people and the new play area is the icing on the cake for the whole community.

“We now have a facility that really does have something for everybody and I am sure it will go from strength to strength.”

The centre provides both sports and social recreation facilities and opens out onto the village green. There is also an all-weather 3G 5 a side synthetic pitch with floodlighting alongside the new play area.

The centre is run by Inverkip Community Initiative which was set up to work with the Council in the design, construction and running of the new community centre.

The play area has been installed as part of the Council’s play area strategy.
