Community Grants Fund reopens
A SHARE of almost £100,000 is available for Inverclyde groups thanks to a council grants scheme.
The local authority’s new Community Grants Fund has reopened for a second round of awards.
Community, sports and voluntary organisations can now apply for financial assistance of up to £10,000 to aid their work supporting people across Inverclyde.
The council fund combines the former Grants to Voluntary Organisations (GTVO), Under-19s Sports and Community Hall Waivers schemes.
In round one, over £260,000 was shared among 68 groups.
There is now £95,000 left in the pot and priority will be given to groups that did not apply for funding in the previous round to ensure support within this financial year is given to as many applicants as possible across Inverclyde.
Councillor Graeme Brooks, who chairs the council’s grants sub-committee, said: “We’ve heard already from some of the groups that successfully bid for funding in round one how crucial these grants are to keep them going or to help them grow and develop.
“There’s now an opportunity for more groups to apply for financial assistance to support the vital work they do in our communities for the benefit of residents and Inverclyde as a whole.
“There is a limit to the funding we have available so the role of the grants sub-committee is to make sure the money spent achieves the maximum benefit across Inverclyde.”
Groups must meet the eligibility criteria to be able to apply and must also demonstrate how funding would contribute to and benefit the wider community in line with the local priorities of: repopulation; local economy; inequalities; or environment, culture and heritage.
Applications received by noon on Monday 6 December 2021 will be considered by the grants sub-committee at a meeting in February 2022.
