The project is being led by Inverclyde Council thanks to funding from the Scottish Government.
Work started on Monday 7 April 2025 and is due to last up to six weeks.
Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council’s convener of environment and regeneration, said: “Once complete, the Cumberland Road playpark will be an excellent addition to the many wonderful playparks we have in towns and villages across Inverclyde.
“It will be a welcome addition to the local community and especially for families to encourage
“There is also the added benefit of bringing a vacant piece of land in the heart of the community back into productive use.

“I look forward to seeing the playpark when the installation is complete.”
The playpark is being built next to local shops that were demolished a number of years ago.
Further landscaping works are planned at a later date.
The site is located at the rear of Aileymill Primary and the playpark surface will be purple as a nod to the school colours.
