Girl Power Project
Group work programme for girls
The project is targeted at vulnerable young people who may be stating that they would consider having a baby at a young age or show an interest in being part of this project.
The project is open to girls from 14 years of age and covers topics on sexual health, contraception, budgeting for a baby, social and emotional consequences of being a teen parent, a day in the life of a ‘teenager versus teen parent’ and health and safety.
All sessions are fun and information … except for one hard part, taking home a reality baby for a weekend!
The practice baby is complete with computer, which, at the end of the practice session gives a read-out on how the young person has coped with caring for the baby (feeding, nappy changes, crying etc).
