Your role in our organisation, and your commitment to providing excellent services will help us successfully deliver our mission and make a real difference to the lives of the residents of Inverclyde.

You should now work through the structured online induction programme, supported by your head teacher/line manager. This programme will equip you with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to support you in beginning your journey with us.

Infomation for all new Teachers:

General Teaching Council for Scotland

The Register of teachers in Scotland is a database containing the name, contact details, registration number, registration status, and qualifications of every teacher qualified to teach in a local authority school in Scotland. You need to maintain registration to teach in Scotland.

The GTCS suite of Professional Standards have been revised and provide a framework for teachers to examine, inform, and continually develop their thinking and practice.

Engagement in the Professional Update process is a requirement for registration with GTCS. Teachers in Scotland are required to engage in professional learning, self-evaluate this learning using the GTCS Professional Standards, and maintain a record of this learning using the Gateway CPD profile. Every five years confirmation of this engagement is required, further information can be found on the GTCS website.

Your manager will provide you with support, advice and guidance for your development throughout your career with us. Organisational Development Advisors and Human Resources Advisors are also available to support you in your new role.
