Statement of Principles

Gambling Act 2005 - Statement of Principles

Section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005 requires Licensing Authorities to publish a Statement of Principles to be applied in exercising the Authorities’ functions under the Act.

Inverclyde Licensing Board in fulfilment of its duty under Section 349 approved its first Statement of Principles on 11 January 2007.  The Council is under an obligation to revise the statement every three years.  At a meeting of the Inverclyde Licensing Board on 21st January 2016, the Board adopted the Statement of Principles to cover the period 31st January 2016 - 31st January 2019.

Although the Act provides that a Statement of principles shall apply for a period of three years, it may be reviewed and revised during that period if appropriate.

The Revised Statement of Principles can be obtained on the Documents Section of this page.
