Keep Up the Recycling Record This Christmas
People in Inverclyde are being urged to remember to recycle over the festive period.
Environment & Regeneration Convener Councillor Michael McCormick said: “Our crews will be hard at work during the festive season and we have tried to keep changes to normal bin collection arrangements to a minimum. Householders can help themselves and the environment by recycling as much of their Christmas and New Year waste as possible. Wrapping paper, empty selection boxes, cans and plastic bottles can all go in our blue bins. Glass bottles and jars are easily recycled in the black boxes and the weekly food waste collection service is great for recycling peelings and leftover food. A wide range of recycling facilities is available at our Pottery Street and Kirn Drive centres, so plenty of opportunities to recycle any old, broken or unwanted items.”
During the Christmas and New Year period, bins will be emptied as follows:

Councillor McCormick added: “If collections are delayed due to poor weather people should continue to put their bins out by 7am each day to allow the crews to empty them at the earliest opportunity.”

Inverclyde Council’s record as one of the best local authorities in Scotland for recycling was recognised at this year’s prestigious COSLA Excellence Awards when the Council was presented with The Excellent People, Excellent Outcomes Award for its project The Challenge for Consistency – Improving Recycling in Inverclyde.
