Legacy Leaders

The managers and coaches of tomorrow were put through their paces this week.

For, the ‘legacy leaders’ programme brought 50 S3 pupils from Inverclyde Council’s high schools.

They had the opportunity to work with pupils from other schools while taking part in team building activities to help develop leadership skills.

The event aimed to inspire young people to develop their leadership, team working and communication skills.

Inverclyde council’s Convener for Education and Communities, Councillor Terry Loughran, said; “This is fantastic programme aimed at working with young people in our high schools and encouraging them in future sports leadership.   The ‘legacy leaders’ programme links pupils with other programmes in schools including the sports captains programme and young ambassadors. Our young people have an opportunity through this programme to increase their confidence and skills. Also, we could be looking back on this event as the starting point for successful and inspirational Scottish sports leaders of the future.”

The ‘legacy leaders’ programme is an Inverclyde Council active schools and sports development initiative supported by and working in partnership with school PE departments.
