Work Starts to Resurface Key Route
Part of the main route linking Port Glasgow to Bridge of Weir is to be resurfaced in a £200,000 investment by Inverclyde Council.

Work on the A761 Port Glasgow Road in Kilmacolm will begin on Monday 7 March 2016 between Auchenbothie Road and Woodrow Avenue.
Environment & Regeneration Convener Councillor Michael McCormick said: “Just over half a mile of road will be completely resurfaced over the next four weeks. This is a vital link between Inverclyde and neighbouring Renfrewshire and I am sure people will notice a real difference along this section once the work is completed.”
Due to the width of the carriageway and to allow for safe working conditions various traffic management methods will be used.
As well as full closure with diversion routes in place, traffic will on occasion be led through the works under convoy at a speed limit of 10 miles per hour. To minimise disruption full closures have been restricted to weekends.
The resurfacing work is part of Inverclyde Council’s £29 million five year investment in roads, pathways, street lighting and structures.
Councillor McCormick added: “Last summer we completed another section of the A761 replacing the carriageway and improving drainage on the road and the feedback from local people has been extremely positive. I am sure that as we work through our planned programme across Inverclyde the level of investment will be reflected in the quality of our roads and the comfort of people travelling on them.”
Work on the latest section of the A761 is expected to take approximately four weeks but will be dependent on the weather.
