New Nursery Set to Open
Finishing touches are being made to the latest project in Inverclyde’s Council’s unprecedented £270million school estate investment.
Former social services offices have been transformed into a £1.2million new home for Glenbrae Children’s Centre in Greenock.
Head of Centre Joyce Patrick said: “Although the present Glenbrae has served the community well for over forty years children and staff are excited about the move into the new building, which offers lovely bright facilities.
“We will still remain part of the local community and will continue to provide a quality service to those who use it.
“We are all looking forward to a bright future for our children in our new, improved premises.”
The building has been completely refurbished with a new entrance canopy, windows, doors and roof lights installed.
New play spaces have been created outside each playroom including a mix of soft surfaces and decking and the existing car park resurfaced.
Education & Communities Convener Councillor Jim Clocherty said: “Nowhere is it more important than in early years to provide every child with the best possible facilities to begin their education.
“The new Glenbrae centre ticks all of the boxes for providing the perfect place to learn and play and is an important addition to our provision for pre-school age youngsters.
“I am delighted all has gone to plan and the staff and children will soon be enjoying the new building and all it has to offer.”
Children are due to move in to the new building on Thursday 19 July. The centre opens 52 weeks of the year catering for children from 0-5 years.
