Under 19's Sports Grants 2019-20 - 19 clubs share £134k

Local sports clubs have received a £134,000 boost in the form of one-off grants from Inverclyde Council.

Nineteen clubs shared the cash from the council’s Under 19’s Sports Grants fund. The awards ranged from £15,000 to help the Inverclyde Amateur Swimming Club with hire costs, coaching costs and assistance towards taking part in swimming galas to £1,000 to help the Lady Alice Bowling Club pay for coaching for its junior members.

Councillor Graeme Brooks, Chair of the council’s Grants Sub Committee, said, “It’s really important to involve young people in sport. It can lead to a life-long interest which protects their health and builds friendships.

“Training from an early age is also important for achieving competition success which enhances Inverclyde’s prestige nationally and internationally.”

The Under 19’s Sports Grants fund helps groups with the ongoing running costs of their club while they provide sporting activities which contribute to the quality of life of young people in Inverclyde.
