Free International Women's Day celebration event at the Beacon Arts Centre
WOMEN will take centre stage at the Beacon Arts Centre on Thursday night at a free event to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020.
There will be a host of guest speakers, live music, a drama production and areas showcasing women in business, health and wellbeing and sports and fitness between 5-8pm.
Tea and coffee will also be served and the event is completely free to attend.
Councillor Lynne Quinn, Inverclyde Council’s women’s champion, said: “It’s a celebration of the achievements of women – social, economic, political and cultural – and it’s open to everyone.
“We have a packed programme of music, inspirational speakers, a business area to highlight female owners, a health and beauty station and a sports section to encourage women to get involved in sports.
“Thanks to the Beacon for letting us use this wonderful space.”
Cllr Quinn is pictured with Kate Stevens, creative learning co-ordinator at the Beacon, doing the ‘each for equal’ sign – a symbol of International Women’s Day, which is on Sunday 8 March.
The event at the theatre, being sponsored by Amazon in Gourock, will include award-winning Greenock singer songwriter Sheila McKay Jones, who will be playing live, a performance from Breeze Productions, and local inspirational life coach, Marion Morrison.
