To Absent Friends festival, 1 - 7 Nov

All those who have lost a loved one, regardless if it was recently or a long time ago, are invited to take part in the ‘To Absent Friends festival’. This festival takes place all over Scotland from now until the 7th November 2020.

Compassionate Inverclyde are asking as many people as possible to get involved to remember their loved ones in a creative, meaningful way.  To Absent Friends is not like traditional formal remembrance services. It exists to encourage participation, and it is non-prescriptive – groups and individuals are welcome to take part in whatever way they feel appropriate.

There are many ways in which to get involved such as: Walks, quiet spaces, arts and crafts activities, tributes and installations.

Councillor Robert Moran, HSCP Chairperson and Chair of Compassionate Inverclyde said, “This week we ask people to take some time to remember their loved ones.  Due to Covid-19 it is more difficult for us to come together with family and friends to reminisce however we can all take the time to do something ourselves, in our own special way.

People throughout Inverclyde should take some time out this week to enjoy their memories of loved ones who have passed away, whether recently or in the past. The ‘To Absent Friends Festival’ is an opportunity for us to Remember, Remember, together.”

The whole community is invited to take part in an act of remembrance by placing a light, however please avoid lit candles for safety reasons, in their windows to remember our absent friends on THURSDAY 5TH NOVEMBER at 8pm.

Remember, Remember together
