Community groups invited to bid for share of £200,000

Local community groups and voluntary organisations are being invited to apply for a share of a £200,000 pot, provided by Inverclyde Council as part of its regular support for local organisations.

The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 9 October 2020. Full details of how to apply are available on the council’s website.

Successful groups should receive their grant awards by early December.

Every year the council sets aside cash through its ‘grants to voluntary organisations’ scheme. It normally takes the form of two rounds of bids. Any cash that’s left over from the first round is normally made available early in the following year.

Councillor Graeme Brooks, Chair of the council’s Grants Sub-Committee, said, “Across Inverclyde we have groups doing fantastic work right in the heart of our community. The grants to voluntary organisaitons budget is set aside each year to provide one-off support to give groups a helping hand in doing that good work which benefits our area so much.

“The funding this financial year is to support groups and organisation which provide vital and ongoing community services to Inverclyde. Some of these have lost crucial funding or income due to Covid-19 and some need extra cash to meet social distancing measures and higher hygiene standards.

"The pot of money available is limited, so the job is to make sure we achieve the maximum benefit across Inverclyde with the cash available.”
