Christmas lights events 2021
EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the return of Christmas lights switch-on events to towns and villages across Inverclyde.
Last year’s festivities went online due to coronavirus restrictions but there will be family events this week and next to celebrate the countdown to 25 December.
There will be switch-on events in all Inverclyde towns and villages starting with Greenock this Friday (26 November 2021) with a packed programme in and around the Oak Mall Shopping Centre starting from 4.30pm.
Santa and his reindeer will be making a special appearance, there will Christmas cards and crafts, music from Brass Sounds Inverclyde, a caricature artist, photos with virtual Santa and carols round the tree at the Wellpark Mid Kirk.
Shops in the Mall will be open until 7pm and free parking is available in the Bullring Roundabout car park and Oak Mall car parks at Hunter’s Place and King Street.
The Gourock Christmas decorations will also light up this Friday from 6pm.

It will be Port Glasgow’s turn on Wednesday 1 December from 6pm then on Friday 3 December attentions switch to Quarrier’s Village from 4pm, Inverkip from 5.30pm, Kilmacolm from 6pm and Wemyss Bay from 7pm.
Provost Martin Brennan said: “I’m delighted that we can once again celebrate the countdown to Christmas with in-person lights switch-on events in all our towns and villages.
“It will special to see families and friends reunited to get into the festive spirit and hopefully support local businesses at the same time.”
