The British Newspaper Archive offers online access to millions of pages of British and Irish newspapers from 1700s to 1990s. It's a fantastic resource for everyone interested in history, and especially for family and local historians.   The archive includes the Greenock Advertiser, Greenock Herald, Greenock Telegraph and Clyde Shipping Gazette, and the Port-Glasgow Express.  It is available to access on computers in Inverclyde Libraries.


Click on the ‘Register’ link from the top of the main page (find the link in the Other Websites section of this page) and create an account. Once signed in with your account, you’ll have access to view all pages on the entire database for free in your library.  Library staff will be happy to assist you with any technical support.
