Interim Community Council Elections October 2025

Community Councils are the third tier of government, bridging the gap between communities, council and national governments and play an important role in towns and villages across Scotland.

There will be Interim Elections in October of this year for the areas of:

  • Greenock Central; 
  • Greenock East; and 
  • Holefarm and Cowdenknowes.

We will be looking for nominations for these areas from 15 September 2025 and anyone who is interested in becoming a Community Councillor should complete and return a written nomination form by no later than 4pm on Wednesday 8 October 2025.

The Notices of Election are scheduled to be published on 15 September. From that date, the notices and nomination forms will available for downloaded from this page.

Nomination forms received after 4pm on Wednesday 8 October 2025 will not be accepted.

Any currently co-opted members of the Greenock East Community Council are reminded that should they wish to remain as members, they will need to seek nomination and election once again in terms of the above.
