Services for Adults
All of our libraries offer a wide selection of reading material for adults. Search our library catalogue for books, eBooks, eAudio Books, Large Print titles, Talking Books and DVDs. Choose from a large selection of different genres in our fiction collection and material types and topics in our non-fiction collections. Borrowing from the Library:
You can borrow 20 items at a time but please note there is a charge of 10p per item per day to a maximum of £3.00 for overdue items.

Inverclyde Libraries currently runs three Book Chat reading groups, which meet at Central, Gourock and Port Glasgow Libraries. For more information please see our Book Groups page linked in the Related links section of this page.
Inverclyde Libraries offers a suite of 84 PCs across our branches which are free to use. All branches are also Wi-Fi enabled for anyone who wants to use their own device.
DiscoverIT @ the Library
For those who would like to improve their digital skills we offer basic IT and iPad sessions. For further information and course details please visit our Learning page.
If you would like to improve your interview skills, or just want to know how to produce a professional CV come along to the library to learn how. Community Learning and Development run regular Work Clubs in Central and Port Glasgow libraries and a Basic Computing course in Central Library twice weekly. Activities for Adults:
Inverclyde Libraries offer a number of activities for those who would like to come along and learn a craft, reminisce or just chat to others. We hold 2 Chatty Café sessions in South West library and 1 in Port Glasgow library. Please see the Chatty Café page linked in the Related links section of this page for details.
On the last Wednesday of each month Greenock Central Library hosts autism-accessible afternoons, Au-some Afternoons, to support adults and children with autism or additional support needs. Please see the Au-some Libraries! page.
Macmillan Information and Support:
Inverclyde Libraries work with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide a network of Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Services. Macmillan Signpost Points are located in all of our branch libraries providing anyone affected by cancer with a full range of helpful leaflets and booklets. Volunteer-led Macmillan Info and Connect Drop-in Sessions are also available weekly in Port Glasgow library specifically to support those affected by cancer. Free Sanitary Products
Inverclyde Council are committed to tackling period poverty. We provide free sanitary products in all of our libraries, schools and community centres. These are provided in our accessible toilets.
